I know it has been a while, what with the plague err, pandemic of COVID-19, and the forced social isolation I have been a little busy, but welcome back to the Reading Nook. This one is also a little delayed because I knew this author was getting ready to release this amazing new book that I just knew I had to share with all of you. Needless to say, it has now released, so let’s welcome one of my favorite authors, Ms Mary Auclair, to the Reading Nook.
As I said, Ms Auclair has just released a new book this week. This book was packed full of all those elements that are a hallmark of Ms Auclair’s writing style. Hot dominant alien males, sassy women who don’t know when to do what they are told, and supporting characters that wiggle their way into our hearts and leave us desperate to see them find their own HEAs. Well maybe it is just me, but I think you are going to want to read this newest release by Ms Auclair.

Escape to survive
Such an amazing story! I love how the author drew us in with the first scene and then each experience after that kept us invested in the conclusion. I enjoyed how the relationship between these two characters grew and evolved the longer they were together. I don’t know if the author is planning on this being the beginning of a new series, but I would love to read Sayk and Janet’s story as well as Ry’s. No matter what she comes out with next, I can’t wait to read it.

See what I mean? That book is fan yourself hot! Here is another book that has me hoping Ms Auclair will expand the series. It’s actually perfectly set up for that with the way the beginning is, but she wrote it in 2017 and hasn’t written another yet. Color me disappointed. Of course, if all of you grab a copy and show it some love with a review, or 50, maybe my days of longing will be over.

More than just a female
I fell more in love with this book with every page I devoured. The characters are so intense and realistic with personalities and emotions that just draw you in. And the story is so exciting, full of danger, unexpected twists and turns, and a HEA that I will be sure to read over and over again. I really hope the author writes more stories in this series. I need to know if they catch the bad guy and if the rest of the women find their own HEAs.

A book you won’t be able to put down
If you are looking for a hot, steamy romance with plenty of action, moments that bring tears to your eyes, and unending need to see love and blood mates come to an entire set of siblings, this is the book for you. From beginning to end, this book held me captivated. I cheered at every victory and cried at every loss. I especially mourned the loss of Arlen’s mate, not for her sake but for his. I can only hope that the author finds a way for him to be one of the rare few who are able to find his true blood mate after the loss of the imposter. Only time will tell. In the meantime, I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Yummy! Love that upper body porn on the covers. Speaking of upper body porn, have you read Ms Auclair’s Dawn of Dragons series? These two books are just as hot as the covers. Okay, as the cover implies, this first book is all about the cold, and yet by the time you get to the end you will be surrounded by steam.

The bonds of love
What a fantastic read! This book was so different from most of the dragon books you may have read. A bond formed at conception creates the basis of this special pairing of dragon riders. The one thing they are looking for is a mate who will complete them. The male is over the top alpha male with a protective streak a continent wide. Of course, when he’s up against an equally protective mom, who just happens to be his mate, he never stood a chance. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Now we have come to the part of the interview where you get to hear from Ms Auclair herself. I will try to refrain from interrupting, but you know me, I can’t help myself most of the time. Well anyway, without further ado here is Ms Auclair.
How Long does it typically take you to write one of your books?
I try to write a complete novel every 3 to 4 months, but as a mother to 2 young children, my schedule can be a bit hectic and I am sometimes late. I try my best to stay productive, though!
Do you usually write one book at a time or do you find yourself working on multiple books as the mood takes you?
I try my best to stay focused on one book at a time! I find that it is what keeps me more productive and leads to better results for me.
What is your work schedule like when you are writing?
I wake up at 5:30 in order to have a whole hour and a half to myself before the children wake up, then I come back to work around 9 am when my children are in school and work straight up to 3pm. After that, there isn’t much time left for writing until the early evening
What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
All my writing is highly fuel by caffeine.
Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
Inspiration always strikes me in the most unusual times. I can be driving, walking my children to school or watching TV when a new idea comes to me. Once an idea sets in, I seldom forget about it!
When did you write your first book and how old were you?
I have been writing down my stories as far as I can remember. Even as a primarily school child, I was always scribbling in notebooks about some fantastic story I had in my head.
What do you like to do when you are not writing?
I am a huge animal lover, and we have a house-full of pets. 2 large dogs and an African Grey parrot consume any time I have left in my schedule. In the summertime I also adore gardening.
What does your family think of your writing?
My family has always been greatly supportive of my writing, especially my husband.
What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
That having a great idea is the easiest part of the job!
Out of all of the books that you have written, which is your favorite book?
I admit to be partial to Touch of Ice, the first book in my Dawn of Dragons series. I just love dragons and I identified strongly with the heroine in the story who would do anything to save her daughter from harm.
See! I don’t have a reason to interrupt since I already told you about this book. Whoops! Sorry about that. But as I now have your attention, you really need to check out the second book of the series as well. It is so good, with so many twists and turns, and all new characters that I hope will get their own books one of these days.

Shades of red
I can think of no better compliment for this author other than that her dragons remind me so much of the dragons of Pern. The way she has these dragons connect with their rider is so intense, but then when you add in a true mate the emotions jack up to an entirely new level. I love that once again she has immersed us in this world of danger and misery, but with so much love that we know joy has to be right around the corner. The author has filled this book with so many twists and turns and the enemy is the one no one suspected. I enjoyed this book from the beginning until the shiver inducing ending and I can only imagine what the author is going to come up with next. It’s sure to be epic.

What do you think makes a good story?
I think the stories with the greater conflict always make for the most interesting reads. I love a great villain, one that casts a shadow and can be understood, although not forgiven. I like a lot of action and danger in my reading and it reflects in my writing as well.
As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
I always wanted to be a veterinarian, just like my mother, but sadly health-related concerns prevented me from doing this. Writing was always a dream of mine, so at least I accomplished that!
It’s a shame you were not able to realize your dream of being a vet, I mean how awesome would that have been getting to spend time with animals all day, but I am so happy you became a writer. I may or may not, okay, okay geez were you snooping in my kindle, I definitely own all of your books and can’t wait until you release the next one.

Mary grew up in the quiet peace of a small rural village in the heart of Quebec, Canada.
She spent her childhood chasing butterflies and catching frogs, playing in the mud and generally being as unladylike as she could. Her love of science led her to complete a mechanical engineering degree at the Ecole Polytechnique of Montreal, where she met the love of her life.
