Throwback Thursday – James – Susan Bliler

You will need to have a tissue box handy when you read this week’s Throwback Thursday pick. I don’t care how many times I read this book it still continues to make me cry. The author created this perfect second chance story that is so similar to the other books in the series and yet so different. The characters are the same ones we have come to love, but we finally get to see a depth to James that he was hiding behind his laughter. We get a chance to see the love and loyalty his friends and teammates have for him. Heck!  We even get a rare glimpse of how much Monroe cares for the people under his command. The only thing missing is that big looming enemy out to get them. That’s not to say there isn’t action and danger, but the only real enemy in this book is the pain of miscommunication. I love all of the Skin Walkers books, but this has to be one of my favorites. Come on, this should come as no surprise. You all know I just can’t shake my love for Gauge, he will always hold that number one slot. I really hope the author continues this series, there are so many Walkers who have yet to find their angels and I really want to hear Mason’s story and how it started Remy on his path of self-destruction. Believe me when I tell you that you won’t want to miss reading all about James, you will see that it’s worth every tear.

Happy Reading

PrimRose is done running from her past. The last time she saw James, his eyes had been filled with cold, merciless hatred. She’d been forced to betray him, and he’s never understood why. Now, seeing him again after all these years, any hope for a relationship is vanishing beneath his cruel disdain. Prim knows she’s to blame for the ice that surrounds his heart, yet she’s praying that the secret she’s kept all these years and the sacrifices she’s willing to make might just warm him to her. It was a risk coming to StoneCrow, but for a shot at happiness, Prim was willing to risk it. Now, she’s just praying she survives James’ wrath.

Skin Walker Sentry, James, isn’t prepared when his past comes calling. Prim is the woman who wrecked him all those years ago. She’s his enemy, and not just his. She betrayed all Skin Walkers and deserves no mercy, and regardless of the passion they once shared, James is determined to put her where she belongs, in a cell.

*This is book 18 in the Skin Walkers series. Since each book in this series focuses on a different couple, they can be read as stand-alones. Readers may prefer to read them in order for maximum enjoyment.

Official published review:

Bringing back his shine

James is the one Walker who never seems to lose his smile, but like all the perpetually happy he is covering up a deep well of hurt. When you pick up this book, be prepared with a box of tissues because your emotions are going to get the best of you and you will cry. But the HEA is just that much sweeter for the emotional journey you have to go on to get there. This author continues to amaze me with her characters, her plots and the way she manages to draw me into the outcomes of each book. I anxiously await her next book and the story she will tell.

My pack territory is in Central Montana, between Stone Crow Estates and the North Fortress. Born and raised in an untamed location that bridges the gap between rolling prairies and majestic mountain peaks, I am born to a family that also bridges the gap between cultures.

My father's people boast a fiercely proud Scandinavian ancestry while my mother's tribes descend from two savagely beautiful and unique nations (White Clay and Nakoda) that inspire my Skin Walker series.

I'm a huge fan of MMA, boxing, 30 Seconds to Mars, DMX, Nahko and Medicine for the People, and 21 Pilots ("...sometimes quiet is violent"). I also love to read because it encourages me to write. (I hate it when authors add that they love coffee and chocolate. Really? Who doesn't love coffee and chocolate?) Anyway, I love beer...kidding. I don't love beer, but we are engaged in a very serious relationship. (Mom, please don't call me when you read this.)

Please leave feedback....well, only if it's positive. "Keep in mind that I'm an artist and I'm sensitive about my sh*t! (Erykah Badu lyrics!)
