Throwback Thursday – Fire Lord’s Assistant – Aurelia Skye

I think I might have mentioned this before, but I am 100% guilty of choosing books by their covers.  Take today’s Throwback Thursday, I saw this cover and was like, “I totally need to have this book in my life!”  Only after it was already in my Kindle app did I realize that the author is one that I like and have read many times before.

I really enjoyed this book!  It was very Night Circus esq and had all of the action and emotion that I usually find with this author’s aliens.  The characters are interesting engaging, and I would really love to see more from them, especially Kex.  It would be nice to see if the brother manages to stay out of trouble and find his own bonded mate.  Or even to see if the scorned woman finds a man to help her live out her long life with love.  Of course, there might already be more books as this book is a Throwback for a reason, so I will have to do a little bit of investigating.

If you enjoy scifi romance and aliens though, I would recommend this book as your weekend read.  The story real flew from the pages making it seem like minutes where it might have been hours to read it.  But who’s really counting anyway when you are in the throes of a good book?  No matter what you are reading this weekend I hope you enjoy it.

Happy Reading

The Alien Immigration and Integration Department monitors activities of aliens living on Earth while hiding their presence among us.
Junior AIID agent Lauren Sage is unexpectedly thrust into the biggest case the Department's had in years. She's sent to work undercover as the assistant on Kerr Dracos's stage act. He's created a home for displaced aliens from all over the galaxy, recreating an old-fashioned sideshow in the Grotesquerie. Humans think it's an illusion, remaining unaware the "freaks" in the show are actually aliens living among them. But someone is using the show as a way to sell illegal and dangerous alien technology. Kerr's brother has been implicated, and he wants the truth to clear Kex. She wants to solve the case and stop dangerous weapons from getting into the hands of amoral thugs. They have a common goal, but that isn't their only connection. Their chemistry is scorching, and his nightly fire performances aren't the only thing heating up between them.

Official published review:

Fly through the air

I love the Night Circus and this Grotesquerie is right up my ally, with sideshow participants who are aliens living among us.  The author created characters to fill her attractions that are just as colorful as they are endearing.  Well, and maybe more than just a little dangerous.  I love that there were so many layers to the story, with intrigue, danger and excitement, and they all eventually led to a HEA.  Now if only there were more books about the characters who didn’t find their perfect someone in this story.  This book is one that I will read again, and the author is someone I will be sure to look up for more of her works.

Aurelia Skye is the pen name USA Today bestselling author Kit Tunstall uses when writing science fiction and/or paranormal romance. It's simply a way to separate the myriad types of stories she writes so readers know what to expect with each "author."

USA Today bestselling author Kit Tunstall lives in Idaho with her husband and two sons. She enjoys writing several genres and subgenres. When she started publishing, dinosaurs roamed the earth, and authors had one pen name with their publisher. That was the name you wrote everything under, no matter how dissimilar. Thanks to advances in publishing, it's now easy to have more than one pen name, and many readers have come to expect a certain type of book experience from each author. The "brand," if you will.
Kit's catalog makes it difficult to tell what brand you're getting, so she has "co-authored" each type with a pen name, so you'll know what kind of book to expect.
* Contemporary romances that are super steamy: Kit Kyndall
* Science fiction and/or paranormal romance: Aurelia Skye
* Edgier works (including fertile erotic romances and bad boys): Kristianna Sawyer
* Historical Romances: Kristina Saxon
* Horror, SciFi, dystopian, and post-apocalyptic without (much) romance: T.K. Reilley
