This is an amazing beginning to a series. The author puts us right into the action from the first page and it doesn’t slow down until the last page. I love the way the characters were able to overcome their unexpected circumstances and thrive. I especially enjoyed the way the characters put aside their differences for love. I can’t wait to see where the author takes these characters and the world she has created.

In this next book, Ms Shannan takes us from the frigid cold of Alaska to the warmth and heat of Texas. Well I guess it is really the other way around as this book was written first, but who is keeping track when it comes to an excellent story. I really love the devotion her characters have for each other and their family in this series, even the people that mate into the family. Plus, who would not love this book based on the chest and ab porn on the cover?

It’s a shame that so much had to happen to Kara, but if it hadn’t then Luke may have never gotten his chance to show her what true love really is. I have just one more book to share with you all and then I will let Ms Shannan speak for herself. Hey! No eye rolling, you guys know you love hearing all about the options the authors provide for your reading pleasure.
In this series, Ms Shannan sticks to Texas, but she takes us on a journey to the future. It is a dystopian kind of future, but the town that she writes about does not seem to be war torn destruction. It is an insular type of town with fantastic paranormal characters and a fair dose of BDSM. Yummy! So many good things all rolled into one book and one series. Oh, and check out the chest and ab porn on the cover of this book.

Surviving for fate
An exciting new take on a dystopian future, where women’s lib is reversed and paranormals have to band together to survive. I love how the author gave us such a strong group of female characters and equally strong supporters in the males. These ladies have been through the wringer, especially Bailey, and still continue fighting. I enjoyed the connection between these two characters and the comradeship in the community. The author really did an exceptional job with the aspect of overcoming abuse and the reality of triggers in the environment. There were so many characters to fall in love within this story and I can’t wait to see who gets the spotlight shined on them next.

So, without further ado, her is Ms Shannan to tell you a little bit about herself and her writing career.
When did you first realize that you wanted to be an author?
I realized this was my dream in college. I had another friend who had just gotten started and she encouraged me, and the rest is history.
How long does it typically take you to write one of your books?
It can vary from 1-3 months, sometimes longer.
Do you usually write one book at a time or do you find yourself working on multiple books as your muse takes you?
I typically write one book at a time, but I’ve been known to switch it up and work on two at once.
What is your work schedule like when you are writing?
I get up very early before my kids. Most of my writing is done before anyone else in the house wakes up.
What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
Hmmm. I don’t really do anything specific. I like to sit in a recliner to write with my laptop. I don’t eat. I don’t listen to music very often while I write. I like it to be quiet. I don’t like to write in public.
Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
They just fall into my brain like rain from the sky. Sometimes a song lyric or character on a tv show will inspire something, a scene or an idea. Sometimes they just appear out of thin air.
When did you write your first book and how old were you?
I was 17 and a freshman in college
What do you like to do when you are not writing?
I love to watch movies. I’m a science fiction/mythology geek. I love Stargate and Star Trek and the Chronicles of Shannara and ALL the Marvel movies. Iron man is my favorite Avenger. Second favorite is the new Spiderman. I read a lot. I play board games with family. Play with my dogs. My life is full of blessings.
What does your family think of your writing?
My kids think it’s cool. My husband is super supportive.
What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
I write a lot of “me” into my characters
Out of all of the books that you have written, which is your favorite?
That is an impossible question. My favorite series is my latest—Soulmate Shifters in Mystery Alaska.

The outcast finally finds a home
This is one of my favorite kind of stories! There is just something special about being able to cheer for the underdog. I admit, I shed a few tears at the injustice that Owen and Tara had to suffer so the others could hold onto a dead way of life. I’m so glad they had people on their side, even the unexpected allies. And with all good stories, Owen was finally able to prove his worth by being the alpha he has always been, the one who sacrificed everything for someone else. I rejoiced when they finally found their HEA. I can’t wait to see who finds their mate next!

As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
I wanted to be a country singer!
Wow! Who knew so many authors aspired to be singers in their youth? Well Ms. Shannan, you are certainly in good company, Elle Boon and Milana Jacks have also stated in our interviews with them that they once wanted to be singers. I know you are probably still a little disappointed, but I am ever grateful that you succeeded as a writer and not as a singer.
