GroundHog Day – 02-02-2020



While Punxsutawney Phil was waiting to see his, or is it her, shadow, which he did not and apparently means an early spring, I have been trying to narrow down my favorite books to just one book to share.  You know, that GroundHog Day book that you find yourself reading over and over again.  I couldn’t do it!

There are actually 5 books that I just can’t stop reading.  It almost seems like they are on a loop.  I read one then feel like I have to move to the next one until I have read them all.  I find myself doing it most often after I have read a book that is so good, I just feel lost and don’t know what to do with myself.

I'm a huge fan of MMA, boxing, 30 Seconds to Mars, DMX, Nahko and Medicine for the People, and 21 Pilots ("...sometimes quiet is violent"). I also love to read because it encourages me to write. (I hate it when authors add that they love coffee and chocolate. Really? Who doesn't love coffee and chocolate?) Anyway, I love beer...kidding. The New Species are free and they will not be chained again. This new series by Laurann Dohner had me invested from page one. I could feel the pain and struggle of the characters when Ellie and Fury first meet, and Ellie’s confusion and hurt when they reconnect after a misunderstanding. The growth of all of the New Species is such that you know there will be many books to follow. Love and true affection grow throughout the story and before the end I found myself backing Ellie and Fury as if I was truly there. I can’t wait to see which New Species will find their lasting love and happiness next.

This is one of my favorite books by this author! I love the intensity between the characters, the feelings of family between the men, and the way the relationship evolves. The author did a fabulous job of creating an addition to her leopard world that flows with the previous books and stands out all on its own. These two characters were meant to have the perfect HEA. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

This is one of my favorite books!
I have read this book many times and will be reading many more times in the future. The entire series rates up there with Anne McCaffrey’s dragon riders of Pern. You can start with any book in the series and feel like you know exactly where you are at within the world of the breeds. Mercury and Ria both pull at my heart strings. They have been hurt terribly in the past and keep a tight rein on their feelings and actions to protect themselves. Outside forces may be working against them, but when they come together the HEA is epic.
