Author Carrie Jo Thomas
Lou was having a really bad day. Her best friend stole her
boyfriend. She was fired from her well-paying but boring job. Rent was due and
her roommate was out of town with her latest gorgeous conquest. Then she found
out her wonderful Grandma Gigi, who she hadn’t taken the time to go visit in
more than three years, died.
When Grandma’s will stated Lou inherited a bakery in a little town called
Whispering Mountain, she made the logical decision that suddenly being jobless,
friendless and boyfriendless, now was a perfect time to take a break from her
life.
She didn’t expect a town full of nice crazy people who claimed they could
control the rain, grow absolutely anything, cause avalanches, and command
lightning strikes...
But when her cat started talking and she found a ghost following her, it was
time to take a closer look at those claims.
Was there really magic in the town... or was it in her?

Drawn to her flame
What an amazing story! The author starts us right in the
thick of things and the excitement just grows from there. I love the
characters! They were fully developed with such a depth to their emotions and
personalities that I was drawn into their story. And the location, just wow!
This quirky little town fits the characters and the story perfectly. I really
enjoyed the twists and turns of the book, it has all of the hallmarks of a cozy
mystery. A mysterious hero, a damsel in distress, a crew of family and friends
for support, an unexpected villain, an overbearing leader, and the real person
in charge all mix together to make this wonderful story that I didn’t want to
put down until the very last word. I couldn’t read the teaser at the end of the
book because I already can’t wait to read book two and getting a hint of what’s
coming next would make the wait seem that much longer. This book is such a
sweet love story and a fabulous series starter, hopefully we won’t have to wait
too long for the next book.

Carrie Jo Thomas is a penname for Susan Quinland.
Since most of Susan's writing tends to be dark, scary, and a bit thriller-horror-y.
she decided to come up with a pen name for her PG-ish Paranormal Romances.
Thus, Carrie Jo Thomas was created.
Susan began writing during math class in the 5th grade. The result was her
first "novel", an eighteen-page handwritten story about getting lost
in the woods. Lots of scare factor. A touch of romance. She got an A in English
and a C in Math. While understanding there was a lesson to be learned in this
experience, she chose to ignore it and wrote as often as possible, even at
inappropriate times and places.
Susan lives in Southern California with her husband Jim and a menagerie of
critters who hang around, probably because Susan keeps feeding them. A majestic
long haired tabby named Kaylee The Killer Kitten of Kuddletown, a short haired
ginger cat named Captain Tightpants who totally lives up to his name
(Browncoats, you know what this means), 4,578 birds of all kinds and shapes,
Henry the squirrel who lives under the deck, and Flutter, a visiting bat who
likes to swoop down and scare the heck out of anyone in the backyard at dusk.
